Description

A small metal (silver or gold) rectangle, called a tama or an aphieroma, embossed with a facsimile of a right arm, to be placed on the church altar or in front of the church icons. A tama combines a personal prayer and a vow to a saint while appealing for assistance.The petitioner vows to give or do something as he/she prays to a saint in times of need.
